Meet Davy,

one of our Support Engineers

What do you do at Cheops?

As a Support Engineer you work at Cheops customers to support their IT. Currently I am working at the helpdesk of one of the Big 4 accountancy companies in Zaventem. This type of consultancy usually lasts 6 months to a year. You do work at the customer's site, but Cheops regularly organizes fun social activities. This makes you feel part of the company.

What are the qualities needed in your job?

Curiosity is important. I have been passionate about IT since my childhood and my interest has not diminished. You also need to be flexible. Not only does the technology change, but also the systems you work with. That's why you must have the drive to continuously learn and push your boundaries. Lastly, it is also important to have good social skills. Excelling at your job is not enough; being accepted into the customer's team is just as important.

What is your personal ambition?

When I was 18, I lost a leg in a traffic accident. Today I play with the Red Flamingos, the national amputee football team. My flexibility and perseverance are useful in this team as well, along with my positive attitude. There is only one way and that is forward. Our ambition for the Red Flamingos is to play in a World Cup and take part in the Paralympics. These are great goals for me.

What are your ambitions at Cheops?

Cheops shows strong growth in security and that is something that really fascinates me. My ambition is to  develop my competences around these services further, so that I become a driving force in this domain at Cheops.

Why did you choose Cheops?

My cousin is an IT network administrator at a company that is a customer of Cheops. He advised me to inquire about jobs at Cheops. That is how I eventually ended up here.
