What do you do as a General Ledger Accountant?
As a General Ledger accountant, you will ensure that our financial records are accurate, complete and up to date. You will manage the general ledger, process accounting transactions, monitor balance sheets and assist with the monthly and annual closings.
In addition to your focus on General Ledger accounting, you will also support the Accounts Payable process. You will help ensure the correct processing and follow-up of supplier invoices, expense claims and payments.
Your challenge
You will manage the accounts for the Cheops entities from start to finish. Your responsibilities will include the accounting processing of payroll, monitoring investments and depreciation, setting aside provisions, managing accruals and reconciling balance sheets.
You will support the monthly and annual closings and ensure that accounting transactions are processed correctly and on time. You will help prepare internal balance sheets and closing details and carry out an initial analysis of costs and monthly results.
You will be responsible for mandatory returns, including VAT, IC returns, customer listings and other statutory reporting. In addition, you will support the preparation for the financial audit.
You also play a key role in accounts payable. You post and track supplier invoices, check and post expense claims and credit card statements, and liaise with suppliers and internal approvers.

As a General Ledger Accountant, you hold a bachelor’s degree in economics, preferably in Accountancy and Taxation, or you have equivalent experience. You have at least 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
In addition, you have/are:
- You have a strong foundation in accounting and can confidently manage the accounts from start to finish.
- You have experience with general ledger accounting, monthly and annual closings, balance sheet reconciliations and accruals.
- You have knowledge of VAT, tax obligations and statutory returns.
- You have an analytical mindset and enjoy carrying out checks and initial analyses of costs and monthly results.
- You work in a structured and accurate manner, with an eye for detail.
- You take the initiative and enjoy contributing ideas on process improvements.
- You have strong communication skills and liaise easily with colleagues at various levels within the organisation.
- You have excellent administrative skills and handle financial information with discretion and reliability.
- You are proficient in Excel; knowledge of Power Query is a definite plus.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Business Central and Power BI is considered a plus.
- You communicate fluently in Dutch and English.
