Cheops wins ICT framework contract with Belgian Data Protection Authority

The Belgian IT specialist Cheops has signed a framework contract for the next 5 years with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (DPA). During this period, Cheops will innovate, proactively manage and secure the IT environment of the DPA. “A reliable IT infrastructure that enables the secure management of personal and business data is of paramount importance in this digital age. So we at Cheops are delighted to support the DPA in their mission in the areas of data protection and data management in Belgium,” says Kenny Dierickx, Director Managed Services at Cheops.

Cheops, the Belgian IT specialist, has won a framework contract for ICT services with the Belgian Data Protection Authority (DPA). The framework contract gives Cheops responsibility for the management, security and innovation of the DPA's IT environment. The contract is worth 1.7 million euros and runs for 5 years.

Search for an ICT partner with an integrated approach and focus on security

Cheops won the contract thanks to its integrated approach with a focus on IT security. Cheops will, among  other things, be taking care of:

  • The migration to the Cheops Cloud
  • The proactive management and monitoring of the entire IT infrastructure, including workstations (Managed Services)
  • Strategic guidance to facilitate a pioneering role with new trends and challenges in the ICT landscape

In addition, Cheops will also be responsible for the security of the IT environment of the DPA and its employees. Thanks to the cloud, social networks and mobile working, everything and everyone is constantly connected with one another. This is making it increasingly difficult to secure company networks and important data. With its expertise in IT security, Cheops meets the stringent requirements set by the DPA.

A reliable IT environment that guarantees secure and proactive management of data and personal details is indispensable for an organisation in 2021. We are delighted that the DPA, which of course sets the bar very high, has chosen Cheops as its partner. We at Cheops look forward to supporting the DPA in their mission in the areas of data protection and data management in Belgium,” says Kenny Dierickx, Director Managed Services at Cheops.

The interests of the citizens are central

Protecting the interests of citizens is central to the DPA’s mission. With the advent of the digital age, this protection has become even more important. The social importance of the DPA has been growing steadily because the authority is responsible for monitoring and enforcing the protection of personal data in Belgium. The DPA was looking for a reliable Belgian partner who could also provide strategic advice on digital transformation for its IT systems and to support its employees. As an authority overseeing privacy and data protection, the DPA obviously attaches great importance to secure and integrated management of its IT systems.

“Cheops was until recently an organisation unknown to the DPA and we worked with them for the first time in the context of the bankruptcy of the previous service provider. Based on this experience, the DPA is fully confident that Cheops will be an excellent partner in the coming years. Cheops won our public contract because its offer best met the specifications of our public contract in various areas (both in terms of price and quality of the services offered),” says David Stevens, President of the DPA.
